This member of the Cucurbitaceae
family was given this name by Célestin Alfred Cogniaux in 1916. It
is found in Bahia, Brazil, growing in a well drained soil with some
water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to ten
centimetres or more, the vines up to two metres. The plants are
dioecious - either male or female - the flowers are yellow. The wines and three
leaflets are
hairy.
The name;
congestiflora refers to the inflorescent: congest =
dense, flora = flowers. |
