    This member of the Malvaceae family was given this name by Karl Moritz Schumann in 1900. It is found in Brazil, growing in a well drained soil with quite some water and lots of sun. The stem can grow to one meter in diameter and the tree from ten to fifteen metres high. The flowers are from white to pink.
