This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by  Peter René Oscar Bally and Susan Carter in 1982. It is found in Kenya and Tanzania, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to eight centimetres in diameter, the branches up to 50 centimetres long.
