This member of the Iridaceae family was
given this name by Carl Linnaeus in 1762. It is
found in the Cape Province of South Africa, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The bulb will
grow to two and a half centimetre, the leaves reach 30 to 100
centimetres high. The flowers are either white, pink, purple or
bluish, and might have a darker centre.
It will flower in the early
spring. |
