This member of the Pedaliaceae family was given this name by Jean-Henri Humbert in 1962. It is found on Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with some to lots of water and some to lots of sun. The stem can grow to nine centimetres or more in diameter, and around 130 centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow.
