This member of the Asclepiadaceae* family was first described by Marloth in 1889 or Ernst Heinrich Friedrich Meyer in 1838, and later in 1896 by Friedrich Richard Rudolf Schlechter as Dichaelia circinata. It is found both in South Africa and Namibia. It prefers a well-drained soil with some water and  some of sun. The caudex will get ten centimetres in diameter, and the branches 50 centimetres long. Can only be reproduced by seeds. The flowers are greenish white.
