This dioecious member of the Caricaceae family was
given this name by Hermann Maximilian Carl Ludwig Friedrich zu
Solms-Laubach
in 1889. It is found in Peru and Ecuador, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and some sun. It will raise for three meters
with a swollen base, reaching 30 centimetres in diameter. The flowers are rose
to red.
