This member of the Commelinaceae
family was
given this name
by Justus Carl Hasskarl in 1870. It is found in Southern
Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to a
lot of sun. The bulb can grow up to five centimetres in diameter,
the whole plant will grow up to 30 centimetres in height. The
flowers are blue to pink.
