This member of the Moraceae
family was described by Friedrich Martin Josef Welwitsch in 1869. It is found in
Angola, Cameroun, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Sudan
Tanzania, Uganda, Zaire and Zimbabwe, growing in a well drained soil with some water and little
to some sun. The caudex
can grow up to twelve centimetres, the branches up to 50 centimetres. The
flowers are green and brown.
