This member of the
Zamiaceae family was given this name by Alphonse Louis Pierre Pyramus de Candolle in
1869. It grows in the costal parts of Southern Queensland and northern New South
Wales in all from rich peat to grit, almost in swamp to dry rocks,
shadow or full sun (sounds easy!). The caudex can grow up to half a
meter in diameter, the stems reach for two meters.
Named after Dutch medical practitioner and botanist F.A.W. Miquel.
