This member of the Pedaliaceae family was
given this name by Heinrich Gustav Adolf Engler in 1897. It is found in
Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The
bright yellow to orange flowers sometimes have a red or purple
centre. The caudex can grow to ten centimetres in diameter while the
annual stems reach 30 centimetres in height.
