This member of the
Hyacinthaceae family was
given this name by Franz Speta in 1998. It is found in Morocco,
Portugal and Spain, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The bulbs
can grow to three and a half centimetre, the rather narrow leaves
from 12 to 30 or even up to 60 centimetres.
The genera name was introduced by
Constantine Samuel Rafinesque in Flora Telluriana 2: 57. 1836[1837].
The species is named after Jules Pierre Rambur,1801-1870, a French
entomologist.
