This member of the Montiaceae family was given this name by Mark A. Hershkovitz in 1999. It is found in western Australia, growing in well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow up to three centimetres in diameter, the whole plant can grow up to 25 centimetres. The flowers are white to pink.

The genera name is derived from a widespread Australian Indigenous name; parkilja. The species is named after Prof. Johann Georg Christian Lehmann, 1792-1860, a German botanist.
