This member of the
Montiaceae
family was given this name by Mark
A. Hershkovitz in 1999. It is found in New South Wales and Queensland,
Australia, growing in
well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow
up to 2,5 centimetres in diameter, the whole plant can grow up to 20 centimetres. The flowers are white to
pale pink.
TThe genera name is derived
from a widespread Australian Indigenous name; parkilja. The
species is named after Charles Pickering, 19th century American
naturalist and botanist with the Wilkes Expedition. |
