SHEILAM CACTUS & SUCCULENT GARDEN,
South Africa
Other Gardens, Collections and Nurseries

This nice and large garden was established in 1954, and is now owned and operated by the Schwegmann family. It leys in the dry area just north of Cape Town, right outside Robertson, South Africa. I visited in 2005. More, larger photos in a slide-show.

Many of the numberless plants from more than 2000 species are real huge!

Besides from the large show garden, an production of mainly cacti can be seen.

Some of those "for sale" cacti are also huge.

In several large houses are succulents and other interesting plants, even caudiciforms!

here are several Encephalartos' , from small seedlings to large, real nice looking plants.

I guess this Mexican giant is around 13-15 meters high.

This Cyphostemma currori is three meters high and six meters in circumference.
