This member of the Araliaceae family was given this name by Rudolf Georg Strey in 1975. It is found in South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The fast developing round caudex tend to disappear by age, but can reach a diameter of 20 centimetres. The plant can grow from two to four meters in height.

Named after the small area it can be found in.
