This member of the Cycadaceae family was
given this name by Ferdinand Jacob Heinrich von Mueller in 1876. It is found in
a small area in the Newcastle Range, north western Australia, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The stem grow to
12 centimetres in diameter with a base up to 26 centimetres. The
height are in average two metres, but it can reach five.
