This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Nambiyath Puthansurayil Balakrishnan in 1962. It is found in southern India, growing in a rich but well drained soil with some to lots of water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to twelve centimetres or more, the whole plant up to 90 centimetres or more.
