This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was
given this name by Selmar Schönland in 1910. It is found in South
Africa, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The bulb
can grow to two centimetres, the plant up to 20 centimetres tall and
the inflorescent with the greenish white and yellow flowers up to 40
centimetres.
The name Lachenalia
is in honour of honour of the Swiss botanist Warnerus de la
Chenal. |
