This member of the Orchidaceae family was given this name by Jean M. Bosser and Philippe Morat in 2001. It is found in Bois de Bona, Ankazoabo on Madagascar, growing in a well drained and rich soil or epiphytic with lots of water and some sun. The pseudubulbs can grow to two or even three centimetres in diameter with a four to six centimetre leaf. The 30-45 centimetre inflorescent bear small crème to pink and brown flowers.
