This member of the Hypoxidaceae family was given this name by Deirdré Anne Snijman and Alexander Kocyan in 2013. It is found in south eastern South Africa, growing in a well drained but rather rich organic soil with some to lots of water water and some sun. The caudex can grow to one and a half centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to ten centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow.

The genera name is derived from the Greek Pauros; 'small' and idia; 'dim', relating to the small size of some of the species in the genus. The species name means 'forked into three' and 'pattern'.
