   This member of the Pedaliaceae family was given this name by Friedrich Martin Josef Welwitsch in 1869. It is found in Angola, Botswana and Namibia, growing in a well drained but sometimes clay rich soil with some water and some sun. The stem can grow to three centimetres diameter, the whole plant reach 30 centimetres high. The flowers are bright orange, and can have a darker centre.
