This member of the Asclepiadaceae* family was given this name by Hans Schinz in 1888. It is found in Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 12 centimetres, the whole plant up to 55 centimetres. The flowers are from yellow to orange.
