This member of the Gesneriaceae
family was given this name by Alain Chautems in 1990. It is found in
the Atlantic forest in southeast region of Brazil and in
north-eastern Argentina,
growing in the moss on trees, with quite some water and little sun. The caudex can grow up
to twelve centimetres in diameter and the whole plant will raise for
up to 35 centimetres. The flowers are pink.
The genera is named after Wilhelm
Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der
Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name in honour of
David Douglas, 1799-1834, Scottish botanist. |
