This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Alain Chautems in 1997. It is found on hill sides of southern and south eastern Brazil, growing in a well drained but rich soil with some water and some sun. I think the caudex can grow to seven centimetres, maybe more, and the whole plant can reach 30 centimetres. The flowers are pinkish red.
