This member of the
Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Laurence
Edgar Skog in 1987. It is found in southern and
south-eastern Brazil, growing
in a rich but well drained soil with some water and some to lots of
sun. The caudex can grow to fourteen centimetres in diameter, the
stems up to 70 centimetres. The flowers are from red to magenta.
The genera is named after Wilhelm
Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der
Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species is named after
Raulino Reitz 1919-1990, Brazilian father, historian and botanist. |
