This dioecious member of the Caricaceae family was described by
Georg Hans Emmo Wolfgang Hieronymus in1882. It is found in Argentina, Peru, Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay.
The stem will grow to 60 centimetres in diameter and reach for up to
five or more meters. It prefers a well drained soil with some water
and some sun. The flowers are greenish-yellow.
