This member of the Asclepiadaceae* family was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1908. It grows in southern Africa, in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex will get op to 60 cm in diameter, and the plant reaches two meters in height.

*This family might been incorporated in the Apocynaceae family now.
