This member of the
Bromeliaceae family was given this name by Sereno Watson in
1885. It is found in Texas and northern Mexico. It grows in
limestone or an other well drained soil with little water and
some to lots of sun. The caudex van grow to 18 centimetres, the
whole plant up to 80 centimetres. The tiny flowers are white.
The genera name after J. H. G.
Hecht, ?-1837, a German State Council. The species name after the
state it is found in. |
