   This member of the Cucurbitaceae family was given this name by Charles Jeffrey in 1978. It is found in Mexico where it grows in well-drained soil, using quite some water in the growing-period and not too much sun. The caudex can grow to twelve centimetres, the vines up to two metres.The flowers are yellow
