   This member of the Ericaceae family was described by Georg Bentham in 1864. It if found in Peru, growing on the trees with quite some water and not much sun. The caudex can grow to 25 centimetres or more, the branches to one meter or more. The flowers are red, and the plant can be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings.
