This member of the
Phytolaccaceae family was
given this name by Vladimír
Skalický in 1985. It is found in
Assam, China, Himalaya, Japan,
Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, Taiwan, Tibet
and Vietnam, growing in
almost any kind of sol, but it preferring a well
drained and rich soil with some water and some sun. The swollen
roots grow to ten centimetres in diameter and from clusters up to 40
centimetres in diameter. The erect stems reach 150 metres and the
flowers are white to greenish while the significant berries are dark
red - almost black! The
genera is named after its fleshy appearance. The species name means
'resembling a bunch of grapes' for the fruits. |
