This member of the Gesneriaceae family was given this name by Alain Chautems in 1997. It is found on hill sides of southern and south-eastern Brazil, growing in a well drained but rich soil with some water and some sun. I think the caudex can grow to seven centimetres, maybe more, and the whole plant can reach 30 centimetres. The flowers are pinkish red.

The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name after Gerdt Guenther Hatschbach, 1923-2013, a Brazilian botanist.
