This member of the Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by Anna Amelia Obermeyer in 1981. It is found in South Africa and Namibia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The bulb will grow up to five centimetres in diameter, the slim leaves will reach 15 centimetres in length. The flowers are white to pale pink with a maroon outer.
