This member of the Crassulaceae family was
given this name by Ernst Jacobus van Jaarsveld in 1989. It is found in Rosyntjiesberg; northern Richtersveld National
Park, growing in rock cracks with little water and some to lots of sun. The caudex
can grow to five centimetres in diameter, the entire plant up to
seven centimetres in height. The flowers are white, and occurs
before the leaves. The
genera name is an anagram of Cotyledon; a closely-related
genus. The species name after Ellaphie Ward-Hilhorst, 1920-1994, a
botanical artist.
