This rare member of the Dracaenaceae family was described by B. Juan Chahinian in 1995. It is only found in the Eyl Pass, four kilometres north west of Eyl in Somalia. It grow in limestone gravel with little water and prefers the shadow. The rhizomes grow to 2,5 centimetre in diameter, the leaves up to 24 centimetres long - and VERY slow! The flowers are crème coloured. It does need a rather high temperature.
