The boulder of Anes Kiste is found on the western side of the northern reef of the small island of Lyø. It have its name carved on the top.
It is actually too small for these pages, but I only found that out, when I spend a day and €120 to get to it (diesel, bridge and ferry). And as I had made the page already, it is on. As a comfort, I add the biggest boulder on Lyø on this page. It is too small for its own anyway. Klokkestenen is below.

ANES KISTE
Location
: Revvej, 5600 Faaborg -  The beach on northern Lyø.
GPS: 55.063630, 10.141956.

Size: 0,3 metres high, 0,7 metres wide and 1,9 meters long.

Meaning of the name: Ane's (female name) coffin.

Material: Grey granite.

Origin: ?

Legend: Once upon a time, a witch; Lådne Ane lived on Lyø, and her name was Ane. Her sons were robbers, and were caught and executed. The people of Lyø wanted to get rite of Ane too, but it turned out to be hard. She declared that she would never leave the island, even after her death.
When she finally died, the placed her in a coffin and put it into the sea. She drifted ashore time and time again, until she got tired of the game. She turned the coffin into a rock, which were left on the beach.
A variation of history tells us that a wizard named Ane once tried to throw it against Horne's church. However, it is more likely that Ane was burned on the spot and the stone was set over the charred remains of Lådne Ane to prevent her from coming back.
A third variation of the story it that the stone is set on Anes's grave to hold her down and prevent spooky. And another edition calls Ane for Lådne Grete, and tells that Lådne Grete was burned as a witch on the big elongated rock.

The area is accessible on foot, but closed for public access from 1st March to 15th July to protect the birdlife on the reef.

KLOKKESTENEN
Klokkestenen is part of a tomb from 3500-3100 BC. As the name indicates, it have a nice sound, when it is hit with a rock. That have happened a lot of times, and now, it have many large cup markings.

Location: Vestensvej 19, 5600 Faaborg
GPS: 55.047408, 10.128593.

Size: 1,2 metres high, 2,7 metres wide and 2,2 meters long.

Meaning of the name: The Bell Stone.

Material: Grey granite

Origin: ?

Legend: Many tales relate to the boulder. One will have a wish fulfilled, when it gives its sound, and it is said it have a significantly smell, when you rob it with other rocks. It was way too windy to try this when I visited it to test that.

The cup markings, made recently to hear the "bell".

From above.
