This big boulder of
Bolund Stenen is
found outside Roskilde on a meadow. It
is named after the 12 meter high moraine
hill in the cove.

Size: 2,7 metres
high, 3,2 metres wide and 4,4 meters
long. It is 12,9 metres in
circumference. The estimate weight is
around 37 tons.
Meaning of the
name: A grove to live in, referring
to the the aria it is found in.
Material:
Migmatitic striped gnejss.
Origin:
Scandinavia bedrock, unknown location.
Legend: The
legend has it that it was thrown by a
sorceress against the Roskilde
Cathedral.
It did not get that far and can be seen
at the Meadows of Lille Valby.
Another story goes that a witch in anger
threw the stone after a troll. The troll
got the stone in the head and sank into
the ground - and there he is yet. If
someone moves the stone, the troll's
head again come into view.
Another legend has it that it was thrown
after the cathedral of Roskilde by Queen
Margrethe I.
