    This member of the Asclepiadaceae* family was given this name by John Gilbert Baker in 1869. It is found in Namibia and South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow up to eight centimetres in diameter, the vines up to one and a half meter long. The flowers are light brown.

*This family might been incorporated in the Apocynaceae family now.
