This member of the Burseraceae family was given this name by Thomas Archibald Sprague in 1927. It is found in
Oman, Somalia and Yemen. It preferring a
well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The stem can grow
to eighteen centimetres in diameter, maybe more, and the small tree
can reach a height of one and a half or even two metres.
The genera name from Greek
kommi; 'gum' and Greek -phoros; 'carrying' for the
balsam-like scented resin. The species name foliacea means
'leafy'. |
