This member of the Anacardiaceae family was given this name by Rosette Mercedes Saraiva Batarda Fernandes and Abílio Fernandes in 1965. It is found in Namibia and South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The stem can grow to 22 centimetres and the little tree from one to tree metres in height. The flowers are cream to white.

The genera name from Latin ozeit; 'to smell'. The species name means 'different' or 'unequal'.
