This member of the Geraniaceae family is found all the way up the western coast of South Africa, growing among rocks in a well drained soil with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow up to 20 centimetres in diameter, the plant up to 30 centimetres height. The flowers are from white over crème coloured to pink with reddish markings.

The genera name from Greek; pelargos; 'stork' for the ripening fruits, which resembles the bills of storks. The species name means 'like a turnip' for the root.

This is a winter-grower.
