This member of the
Geraniaceae family was given this name by Elizabeth M.
Marais in 1994. It is found
in the Cape Province in South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to two
centimetres in diameter and six centimetres long, the entire plant to five centimetres in
height, 20 with the inflorescence. The
flowers are from cream to pale yellow with a few red dots.. The genera name from Greek;
pelargos; 'stork' for the ripening fruits, which resembles the
bills of storks. The species name its three, very long fertile stamens. |
