family was given this name by Georges M.D.J. Troupin in 1955. It is found
from eastern
Africa to southern Africa, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun.
The caudex can grow to 25 centimetres, the vines reach five metres.
The flowers are greenish.
The genera from Latin tīna;
'wine-vessel' and Greek σπορά; sporá; 'sowing' for
the fruits. The species name from Arabic kafir; 'unbeliever, pagan',
referring to origin in South Africa. |
