This member of the Crassulaceae family was
given this name by Hellmut R. Toelken in 1978. It is found in a small area of Rosh Pinah, southern Namibia, growing in black limestone with little water in winter and none in summer. Some to much sun. The flat leaves can grow up to eight centimetres in diameter, the caudex up to four centimetres or more in diameter. The flowers are greenish with maroon stripes.

The genera name is an anagram of Cotyledon; a closely-related genus. The species is named for its usually single leaf.

This is a winter-grower.
