This member of the Nolinaceae family was first described by Charles
Lemaire
in 1861. It is found in Tehuacan Valley, Mexico. It preferring
well-drained soil with little water and lots of sun. Old plants form
a stem up to two and a half meters in diameter. The small flowers
are crème coloured.
The genera name after Monsieur
Beaucarne, a Belgian succulent plant grower who first collected flowers
of the genera. The species name means 'slender' or 'delicate'.
