This member of the Sterculiaceae*
family was given this mane by A. Terracino in 1897. It is found in the
central Australia, growing in a well drained soil with some water
and lots of sun. The stem can grow to 70 centimetres in diameter,
and looses it's swollen form by age, where it will reach fifteen
meters height. The flowers are slightly dark crème coloured. *This family might been incorporated
in the Malvaceae
family now, as sub-family: Sterculioideae, tribe: Sterculieae. |
