This member of the Vitaceae  family was given this name by Vahl in 1790. It is found in the eastern Africa, growing in a well drained soil with little to some water and some to lots of sun. The vines will reach for up to five meters.

 

Habitat near Muzi Pan Lake, north-east South Africa.
