One of the few European caudiciforms. This Primulaceae
was first described by
Philip Miller in 1768. It preferring a well-drained soil, a little water
and shadow. The bulb will grow up to twelve centimetres in diameter. The flowers are pink,
but a lot of work has gone in to this species and now they are from
white over pink to red. It can only be reproduced by seeds.
This ordinary window plant is rather poison, specially the sap and the
caudex.
The genera name from Greek kyklos:
'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name means it
originates from Persia.
According to GRIN, it
is a member of the Myrsinaceae family.
This is a
winter-grower, or real early spring-grower.
