One of the few European caudiciforms. This Primulaceae was first described by Mill. in 1768. Well-drained soil, a little water and shadow. The bulb will grow up to twelve centimetres. The flowers are pink, but a lot of work has gone in to this species and now they variate from white over pink to red. It can only be reproduced by seeds. 

This ordinary window plant is rather poison, specially the sap and the caudex.

Cyclamen from Greek: kylos, meaning circle, referring to the rounded tubers.
