One of the few European caudiciforms. This Primulaceae was first described by Philip Miller in 1768. It preferring a well-drained soil, a little water and shadow. The bulb will grow up to twelve centimetres in diameter. The flowers are pink, but a lot of work has gone in to this species and now they are from white over pink to red. It can only be reproduced by seeds. 

This ordinary window plant is rather poison, specially the sap and the caudex.

The genera name from Greek kyklos: 'circle' referring to the rounded tubers. The species name means it originates from Persia.

According to GRIN, it is a member of the Myrsinaceae family.

This is a winter-grower, or real early spring-grower.


The grit is 5 mm.
