This member of the Hypoxidaceae
family was given this name by Richard Anthony Salisbury in 1866. It
is found in the southern part of South Africa, growing in clay or
loamed soil with some to lots of water and some sun. The bulbs can
grow to 3,5 centimetres, the plant reaches 25 centimetres in height.
The flowers are bright yellow.
The genera name is from the Greek word meaning 'tanglefoot',
referring to the habit of the plant. The species name means 'folded' or
'pleated'. |
